Exodus
Parting a sea of paper work, “Exodus” references the plagues wrought onto mankind, and the subsequent escape, in the eponymous second book of the Old Testament the people of Israel are liberated from slavery in Egypt. Standing in an office in total disarray, we see a worker staring at a previous artwork in the series ‘In/Out Again’. The worker, and thus the viewer, have managed to escape the ordered production of the first image, only to find themselves in another office space. Here we are no longer enslaved within the framed capitalist system, but outside, inhabiting a similar space, still detained by the power of production but now aware of the underlying structure, not free, nor liberated - but enlightened.
